Track Name: Shadow Theatre
SHADOW THEATRE
This is shadow theatre and less about what is real.
Through games and magazines, all in their process colour,
On canvas walls that leaked when touched,
I was the summer flower, fragrant like fire.

We all have silver dreams but their is no Jacob’s Ladder.
Climbing our own tree, grasping at branches that matter.

And when I find myself there, most of the feeling was gone.
And when I finally got there, most of the feeling was gone.
Most of the feeling...

So let’s play shadow theatre and forget about what is real.
Through lines in their magazines, all dressed in their nice bright colours.
On velvet walls that speak when touched,
I am the Autumn flower that does not see it’s Winter.

And when I find myself there, most of the feeling was gone.
And when I finally got there, most of the feeling was gone.
Most of the feeling...
Track Name: The Hedonist
THE HEDONIST
There’s an elephant at our table,
It’s my reflection in her tea.
She is eager shivering and nervous,
Having just told me.
Taking her hand I fake some fable,
Something reckless wild and free,
About the ones who claim to love us,
They also think they own us.
Me?
I only know what feels right.
Why be so uptight?
I only know what feels right.

Every man needs his Indian Summer,
So his life’s not a tragedy.
Only the rich get to lie among such flowers.
You can sit beside me.
I only do the things that are real,
Taste touch hear and see.
Don’t be a victim of your own ego.
You can learn a lot from me.
I only know what feels right
Why be so uptight?
I only do what feels right
Track Name: I've Closed a Door
I’VE CLOSED A DOOR
If you did wrong,
It’s best you put it away.
They’ll steal you away, they’ll steal you away.

They’ll steal you blind, wild.
You did it all in black and white.
You never see me and we never sleep.

If you did wrong,
It’s best you put it away.
They’ll steal you away, they’ll steal you away.
I’ve closed a door, I’ll never pass again.
I turned this twist, I can’t go back.

If you did wrong,
It’s best you put it away.
They’ll steal you away, they’ll steal you away.
Track Name: Edge of Chinatown
EDGE OF CHINATOWN
Sleep had turned me upside down,
So I walked to the edge of Chinatown.
I went to my haunt of seven years,
Nobody really knows me there.

I saw a wicker man who lost his way,
Went to the mountain for forty days.
Spoke to the fire but lost his nerve.
What did he learn?

I sat among the denim pushers,
Writers, mothers, dealers, teachers,
Healers, dreamers and wayward spouses,
And pretty things from red light houses.

He was a family man who lost his faith,
Wrote to the girl for seven days.
Caught a train downtown but lost his nerve.
What did he learn?
And what did he deserve?

Sleep had turned me upside down,
So I walked to the edge of Chinatown.
I walked through the mall and past a mirror,
I didn’t recognize who I saw there.

A wicker man who lost his way,
Went to the mountain for forty days.
Spoke to the fire but lost his nerve.
What did he learn?
Track Name: One by One (Brace Yourself)
ONE BY ONE (BRACE YOURSELF)
With his strong, strong hands he tried to save us.
It took us one by one, by one, by one...

The moon fell from the sky in pieces.
The sun burned brighter than ever before.
With his strong, strong hands he tried to hold us.
It took us one by one, by one, by one...

Close your eyes, one by one
Brace yourself.

The stars fell deep into the ocean.
The rising sun burned our eyes blind.
Even though he tried to save us,
I long to run to you, to you, to you...

Hold my hand, run to you
We’ll melt, run to you
Into one, run to you
Brace yourself…
Track Name: Nothing
NOTHING
What have I done,
To screw this all up?
Guess I’ve done nothing but nothing’s enough.
Did I say something?
Or make too much fun?
On the contrary it’s what I’ve not done.

There are leaps in my logic,
That I haven’t heard.
But it’s hard to work out,
When you won’t say a word.
So what have I done,
To make things not fit?
Guess I’ve done nothing and nothing’s just it.
Track Name: The Memory Song
THE MEMORY SONG
I’ve been teaching myself to forget.
I’ve been removing all my regrets.
This should be easy, so they have said.
I can hold seven things in my head.

I can hold seven things in my head.
They wrote me off as if I were dead.
Inanimate wasteland with the manikin eye.
Quick to remind me to not even try.

Try to remember you’re not one of them.
No need to worry, no need to pretend.
Those beautiful people all standing in line,
They can’t imagine that I’m doing fine …
Track Name: Poor City
POOR CITY

We were children of circumstance,
We threw away our best chance.
A dull town in a quiet time,
Squandered away our only birthright.
No nice house with a paved drive,
Long commutes on the clotted mainline,
Sunsets on the vanishing line,
Unbroken view of the sky.

Here we are in the city,
But there’s no place where we’d rather be.
Living poor in the city,
But there’s no place where we’d rather be.
We are poor in the city
But there’s no place where we’d rather be
Living poor...

Been through a lot now you and I,
You trudged and I played my alibi.
Got high while you paid my bills,
I charmed them all and you stood so still.
We hide the worst and keep the best,
And hope the rats don’t get the rest,
We never call but that’s OK,
‘Cause we got nothing good to say.

Here we are in the city,
But there’s no place where we’d rather be.
Living poor in the city,
But there’s no place where we’d rather be.
We are poor in the city
But there’s no place where we’d rather be
Living poor...

I learned the streets ‘till my feet were swollen,
They spun my wheel ‘till my will was broken.
Come home with a twisted knife,
The sharp pain of a false life.
Now tell me honey they can’t be right,
Now tell me how they can’t be right.
Now I work for the bottom line and kick the shit to the curb.

Here we are …
Track Name: Nobody Gets It
NOBODY GETS IT

Only a moment to paint a perfect picture,
Always an image of yourself.
Monochromatic just like your crazy poems,
I swallow them you spit them out.
Oh you turned away,
The only logic to this black arrangement.
Misrepresented, your hands they work too fast,
I'm counting doorways leading out.

I wanted perfect. Nobody's perfect, Baby. Nobody Gets it.
I needed perfect. Nobody's perfect, Baby. Nobody ever fits.

This isn't progress - crashing computer screens,
That's all that's left of you and me.
I gave you secrets - made you my confidante,
That's all you'll ever get from me.
Oh I loathe your taste.

I wanted perfect. Nobody's perfect, Baby. Nobody Gets it.
I needed perfect. Nobody's perfect, Baby. Nobody ever fits.
Track Name: Vanauley Walk
VANAULEY WALK

One way out.
Your only out.
No streets of chance,
Those days have passed.

The spinning wheel.
The golden deal.
Mephisto’s pact,
The blood red fact.

And when you see me fall, you’ll watch me turn around.
You’ll see my body twist, my feet land on the ground.

The wet street.
Echoing feet.
A hooded figure,
A coded gesture.

From a crowd,
They picked you out.
Your walk is steady,
And you are ready.

And when you watch him fall, his eyes will turn around.
You’ll see his body twist, his head is on the ground.
